help Photo Book Printing & Papers

We offer a range of different paper types and finishes, to meet all of your photo book printing needs. Our layflat albums are all developed on Silver halide papers which offer very accurate skin tones, greater depth, and an increased color range and vibrancy. Our photo books are produced on HP Indigo Digital Presses, and while these offer incredible detail and color range for digital print, they will not have the same detail or depth as a Silver halide photo print. The advantage of digitally printed papers is that they are much less sensitive to moisture.

Premium Album Paper Options

Fujicolor Crystal Archive Digital Paper Type DPII: Created specifically for professional use, this Silver halide paper offers the widest color gamut, maximum density for deep blacks and excellent color saturation. The Pearl Matte finish is the most popular option as it offers some shine and good contrast. The Gloss finish offers more sheen which can make the images look slightly brighter and with a higher color saturation, but it’s also more reflective.

Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Velvet: Aimed at the Fine Art Printing market, this Silver halide paper is professionally coated with a zero-reflective top layer that creates a stunningly soft and deep-matte effect. The velvet surface appeals to the sense of touch and offers the ultimate, deep-matte experience. Please note, the colors will not be as intense as the Fuji Pearl Matte or Gloss papers.

Layflat Photo Album Paper Options

Fujicolor Crystal Archive Album Paper: Fuji’s consumer version of the above, this Silver halide paper is specially designed for layflat photo album printing. This paper delivers enhanced color reproduction and excellent image stability. The Pearl Matte finish is the most popular option as it offers some shine and good contrast. The Gloss finish offers more sheen which can make the images look slightly brighter and with a higher color saturation, but it’s also more reflective.

Photo Book Paper Options

Our photo books are printed on a matte 170gsm paper in the smaller format books and a 250gsm version of the same paper for the two larger formats. This is an excellent paper for everyday photo book printing. If you’re looking for something a little more special, we also offer upgrades to Felix Schoeller 190gsm E-PHOTO (Photo Lustre) paper which has been designed to look like a genuine photo print.

Our current production setup does not allow for the printing of single sample pages, but we’re happy to answer any questions you have about our papers or printing. Please email support@pikperfect.com.
